① 2205 duplex stainless steel hot forming
We recommend forming below 600 ° F. During hot forming, the whole workpiece shall be heated as a whole at a temperature ranging from 1750 ° F to 2250 ° F. 2205 duplex steel is very soft at this temperature. If the temperature is too high, 2205 alloy is easy to be hot torn. Austenite fracture below this temperature.
Below 1700 ° F, intermetallic phases are rapidly formed due to temperature and strain. Immediately after hot forming is completed, solution anneal and quench at a minimum temperature of 1900 ° F to restore phase equilibrium, toughness, and corrosion resistance. We do not recommend stress relief, but if necessary, the material should be solution annealed at a minimum temperature of 1900 ° F and then rapidly cooled for water quenching.
② 2205 dual phase steel cold forming
2205 duplex stainless steel is used for cutting and cold forming. However, due to its high strength and hardness, 2205 alloy needs more cold forming than austenitic steel, and because of its high strength, springback must be fully considered.
③ 2205 stainless steel plate heat treatment
2205 duplex steel shall be annealed at a minimum temperature of 1900 ° F and then rapidly cooled for water quenching. This treatment is applicable to solution annealing and stress relief. Strain relief treatments, such as at temperatures below 1900 ° F, often result in precipitation of unwanted metallic or non-metallic phases.
④ 2205 stainless steel mechanical cutting
On the high-speed machine tool, the feed speed and cutting speed of 2205 stainless steel are the same as those of 316L stainless steel. With the carbide knife, the cutting speed is reduced by about 20% compared with 316L, and the performance of the machine and its components plays a key role.
⑤ Welding performance of 2205 stainless steel
The weldability of 2205 stainless steel is very good. 2205 duplex stainless steel pipe has the same corrosion resistance, strength and toughness while reaching the thermal degradation performance of weld metal and base metal.
